History
Many centuries ago, when the sun hung low upon the horizon, the Titans gathered together. They were discussing the reign of the Olympians on Eleison. The meeting was held deep within the bowels of the earth, and went long into the night. After hours of arguing, the Titans came to a unanimous decision, to take over Eleison and to attack the Olympians at their stronghold, Mount Olympus.
It was dark when the Titans attacked. Battle cries rang out across the Frigid Plains. The battle was bloody and many lives were lost. To the mortals on Eleison it was hell. Giant waves battered the shore on the Eastern Side while houses were ripped apart by huge winds and battering rain. On the West, the sun scorched the land, killing all crops and plants in its path. Volcanoes emerged, spilling their hot blood onto the fragile soil. The Titans and the Olympians battled on and on for years, changing the land and the people. This time was to be forever known as 'The Ruin'.
It seemed as if the Titans would win, but in the bleakest hour, Athena formed a plan. She called the Olympian's together and their hope grew as she spoke to them of her scheme. They were to trigger an age-old defence of the Mountain Olympus and trap the Titans inside. Once the Mountain sealed itself, it was impossible to open from the inside, and the Olympian's would emerge victorious once again.
The plan was going well, the Titans were delving deeper into the mountain and were too high with bloodlust and the spirit of the battle to realize the trap, but something went wrong, in the heat of the battle, just before the Mountain was about to close itself, some Olympians got cut-off by the Titans.
With the loss of their siblings, the gods fled the frigid planes. Once they saw the destruction they had caused, and what they had done to the people who had prayed for their love and protection, they came to an agreement. The gods would no longer treat their people as toys to play with, but would set themselves apart from the world. Each of the remaining Olympians said their farewells, and sought a place to hide themselves.
Each found a place, and melted into the soil. Their disguise would be the trees and the rocks, the land and the sea, the air and the fire. They would not control the people of their land, but influence them in the only ways they could think of. For all the destruction the Olympian's had caused in The Ruin, each god bestowed upon his people a gift. Each gift was as different as the gods themselves and it was not without a price. After all, The Ruin was caused by the power of the gods being put to selfish means, they could not let the same fate fall to their mortal companions.
Current Plot
King Derensai of Temis has reached his 549th year in this mortal realm, and soon he will have to pass the throne of Temis down to a younger man. This man will become the new King of Temis, ruling over all the Lura forest and the people within it. He will protect, provide and love his people with all the care and wisdom of the Kings before him, and he will do so with all of the strength he will ever have.
But there is a small problem. King Derensai was never gifted with a son, he was given three daughters, born minutes apart. The eldest, Alecto Llaydinir, will be the queen of the future king, and his wife besides.
The princess has not decided on a man to marry, but time has not been kind to the great king, and it is running out fast. Thus, the king has decreed, that on his daughter's 110th birthday she would have to make the decision on who was to be the new heir of the Temisite throne. In order to help her in her quest, the King of Temis has organised a tourney, for any man from any city across Eleison to compete in. The men must compete in a series of tasks put forth to them by the Royal Family.
It is worthy to note that although the king has ruled justly rather than kindly, he loves his daughters very much, and although he will make Alecto choose when the time comes, he will not force her to choose a man she despises. So, not only are the contestants competing to win the tasks and show their competence as a leader, they are also competing to win Alecto's affection.
And if they cannot do that, they should at least try for her respect.
